Mole FAQ

Ashgate Garden Care

Why use traditional methods rather than gasing?
We feel that the tradtional method of mole catching has several benefits over other methods:

  • There is the possibility that when using poison gas to kill control moles, the residue from the gas will remain in the soil. This is not good if you have children, pets or are growing crops.
  • With gasing how do you know that you have killed the mole

What about capturing the mole alive ?

Moles live on worms and as such have a high protein diet. Working in a four hour rest / work cycle, they consume up to 2/3 of their body weight per day in worms. If you set a live trap you would have to check it every four hours night and day. If there was a mole in a live trap where would you take it too and how could you guarrantee that it would get be able to find food without dying of starvation. The traps we use are quick and effective and a lot more pleasant than the mole starving to death.

What if you do not catch anything ?

Simple, you do not pay a penny. We charge on results.

Do I have more than one mole in my garden ?
